The report states that developers are 'sceptical' the game will launch before early 2024
Nearly a full decade on from
Grand Theft Auto V, we're all still keeping our eyes peeled to see when
Rockstar Games will return to the open-world of crime.
Yeah, we've had
Grand Theft Online since then but for all it's content, variety and
celebrity appearances, it doesn't really feel the same, does it?
We've been keeping a close eye out for any and all updates, including the most recent discussion about a
potential release date, as well as Rockstar reportedly shelving remasters of two of the best games ever made so they can focus all of their attention on the much-anticipated
GTA VI.

Bloomberg's Jason Schreier just released a report on Rockstar which dealt mostly with the impact of crunch culture within the gaming industry, as well as how Rockstar has aimed to create a more progressive and inclusive culture within the workplace.
These changes are also being made to the games they are making, including the removal of transphobic jokes from
GTA V, and being cautious not to "punch down" in future when making jokes about marginalised groups. According to an insider, gone are the days of endless "crunching" and poor treatment; Rockstar is no looking like "'a boys' club transformed into a real company."
Moreover, as part of that report, some tidbits of information were discovered regarding
Grand Theft Auto 6, with sources claiming that the game "will include a playable female protagonist for the first time".
"The woman, who is Latina, will be one of a pair of leading characters in a story influenced by the bank robbers
Bonnie and Clyde", the insider said. Given how iconic the classic story is and how bank robberies tend to go in
GTA, we're all over this. Some players might have also gotten a taste of this in the
Be My Valentine DLC launched back in 2016 (yes, GTA V is really old).

Additionally, the original idea for the game - currently codenamed 'Project Americas' - was set to include huge areas of both North and South America, not unlike how the
Red Dead franchise has experimented with crossing the border and multiple maps.
However, it is thought that the idea became too large to execute without demanding huge amounts of crunch from their employees and has now been whittled down to an initial setting of a Miami-type area - widely thought to be a return to
Vice City.
From there, it is said the developers will "continually update the game over time, adding new missions and cities on a regular basis", not unlike the
rumours we reported on last year, which also teased a first female protagonist in the series.
As for when the game will arrive, it was projected that it would land within the fiscal year of 2024 - which would mean any time between April 2023 and March 2024 - but according to Schreier's report, those close to the game were "sceptical" it would arrive in that timeframe "expect the game to be at least two years away".
