Thomas Crown Affair trailer: Michael B. Jordan’s heist remake lands

A classic returns

The footage frames Jordan as a suave gentleman thief moving between glamorous international locations, teasing the elaborate art robberies at the heart of the story.

This marks the third time the story has been brought to the big screen.

The original 1968 film featured Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway as the wealthy art thief and the investigator determined to catch him, while a remake followed in 1999 with Pierce Brosnan in the lead role.

Taking over the iconic role, Jordan puts a modern spin on the mysterious billionaire at the centre of the 58-year-old story.

The heist genre has proved a reliable draw for streamers and studios alike, from Guy Ritchie's starry crime thriller series to a Martin Scorsese gangster thriller now on Netflix, and Amazon MGM is betting the Thomas Crown name still carries weight with audiences.

With the film not due until spring of next year, the trailer marks the opening move in what promises to be a long promotional campaign for one of Amazon MGM's biggest upcoming releases.

The studio confirmed the film will reach cinemas on 5 March 2027.
