It looks like the Penguin and Catwoman will be the antagonists of the upcoming Robert Pattinson-starring Batman movie.
The news was reported on The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Wave newsletter. Both villains, of course, appeared together in 1992's Batman Returns, played by Danny DeVito and Michelle Pfieffer.
On Friday, it was all but confirmed that Robert Pattinson would be our new cinematic Batman.
While Pattinson made his name with the Twilight saga, he has since become an actor who always picks fascinating projects - if you still think he is just a sparkly vampire, check out Cosmopolis, The Lost City of Z, The Rover, High Life and the incredible Good Time right now. Even the most petulant nerd will be convinced the cowl is in good hands.
Robert Pattinson takes over from Ben Affleck, whose time as Batman was rather rocky, with Batman Vs Superman and Justice League not being particularly well received.
Both Catwoman and The Penguin has appeared multiple times on-screen apart from Batman Returns. Burgess Meredith played the Penguin in the classic 1966 Adam West-starring show, and more recently Robin Lord Taylor reinvented the character in Gotham.
Catwoman was played by three different actresses - Eartha Kitt, Julie Newmar and Lee Merriweather - in the 1966 show, and Camren Bicondova took the role in Gotham.
Anne Hathaway played Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.
