Here are all the movies that got 100% on Rotten Tomatoes in 2018

JOE

2018 has been a great year for movies

There were fantastic old-school blockbusters like Mission: Impossible – Fallout and A Star Is Born, big superhero movies like Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther, acclaimed indies like Sorry To Bother You and BlacKkKlansman, and terrifying horror like Hereditary and A Quiet Place.

Review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes has released its list of all the certified ‘Fresh’ movies from 2018 – that’s all the movies that remain above 70 percent after receiving at least 40 reviews and at least five reviews from their list of ‘top critics’.

Almost 200 movies claimed that honour, and the full list is worth going through if you are looking for something to watch.

However, only nine movies from 2018 received a ‘perfect’ 100 percent rating. The way Rotten Tomatoes works, it is harder for bigger movies to do so well, as they get more reviews, and therefore more likely to get at least one person being a needless contrarian and ruining the rating.

(In case you are wondering, the highest rating mainstream Hollywood movies are Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Black Panther and Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, all on 97 percent).

So the top nine are mostly more indie/arthouse fare – including the Ben Foster-starring drama Leave No Trace and the Netflix special Nanette.

But the film that comes out on top – that is, the film with a 100 perfect fresh ranking that also had the most reviews – is surprisingly Paddington 2. Yes, technically, it came out in the UK in December 2017, but the site is going by US release dates.

Plus, the Paddington films are wonderful, and we don’t mind recommending them again.
