Martin Scorsese’s new film with Robert De Niro & Leonardo DiCaprio to start filming this winter

Martin Scorsese's next movie, Killers of the Flower Moon, is due to start shooting this winter. Killers of the Flower Moon, based on the real-life Osage Indian murders, is particularly exciting because it is set to star both Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio. As reported by Movieweb, Geoffrey Standing Bear Principal Chief of the Osage Nation in Oklahoma where the movie is set to film, told local news "My latest information is that they would start filming, subject to Coronavirus, February 2021. And, they will be here for about 16 weeks." Scorsese recently signed a multi-year deal to direct and produce projects for Apple TV+, meaning that Killers of the Flower Moon will be heading to the streaming service as well as having a theatrical release. Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro are, of course, perhaps the greatest director-actor team in the history of cinema, making the likes of Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Cape Fear, Goodfellas and Casino together. And last year, they reteamed for the first time in 24 years with the brilliant The Irishman for Netflix. And during those two decades when they didn't work together, Martin Scorsese found a new, younger muse: Leonardo DiCaprio. Together, the made modern classics like The Departed, The Aviator, Gangs of New York, Shutter Island and of course, The Wolf of Wall Street. The idea of the trio working together sounds amazing. Killers of the Flower Moon will be based on the non-fiction book Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI by journalist David Grann. The book, which is set in the 1920s, tells the true story of a series of killings in the Osage Indian nation in Oklahoma, an area transformed after the discovery of oil. After the FBI bungled the investigation, the bureau's young director, J. Edgar Hoover and a Texas Ranger named Tom White team up to unravel a great conspiracy. Leonardo DiCaprio previously played J. Edgar Hoover in Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar in 2011, but will be playing a different character in this film.
