Passengers couldn’t turn it off
Passengers were left in shock after an X-rated film was shown on every screen on a flight from Australia to Japan.
According to news.com.au, the Qantas flight had a ‘technical issue’ which prevented passengers selecting their own in-flight entertainment choices.
It meant that every passenger was forced to watch the 2023 movie Daddio, a less than family-friendly watch.
The film stars Dakota Johnson as a taxi passenger who has a long chat with the driver, played by Sean Penn, about a range of topics including relationships and sex.
There’s nudity and sexting in the movie which passengers said were impossible to pause, dim or turn off.
A passenger posted on Reddit about the incident sharing pictures of what they could see on screen.
Around an hour into the flight, they managed to switch to something a little more appropriate for all viewers but the damage had been done and passengers were left speechless by what had happened.
Qantas clarified that due to a technical issue, passengers couldn’t select their own movie, so instead asked passengers what film they’d like to watch.
Several passengers asked to watch Daddio, but once it became obvious it wasn’t the sort of film that was family friendly cabin crew tried to help people with their screens.
When that didn’t work they put on a children’s movie for the flight instead and apologised to customers.
A spokesperson for the airline said: “The movie was clearly not suitable to play for the whole flight and we sincerely apologise to customers for this experience.
“All screens were changed to a family friendly movie for the rest of the flight, which is our standard practice for the rare cases where individual movie selection isn’t possible.
“We are reviewing how the movie was selected.”
