The long rumoured
Bad Boys threequel is finally happening.
We know it is happening because
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence got together to shoot an Instagram video to announce it. And if it is on Instagram, it must be true.
Now, the title appears to have been confirmed. A listing on
Production Weekly seems to suggest it will be called
Bay Boys For Lif3.
Yeah, really. Production Weekly is a trade publication for film and television professionals, listing projects in development. So things could change, and the film could definitely be retitled.
Just ‘Bad Boys For Life’, without the clumsy addition of the number three, had been rumoured for a while. Maybe then they can go for ‘Bay Boys 4ever’ for the fourth one, when Will Smith is like 65?
Rumours about
Bad Boys 3 have been bubbling around for years and years. It
has been in pre-production for a long time, with TV directors Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah set to be in charge behind the camera.
Various potential plot details have also come to light.
Last month,
Variety reported that Sony were “very close” to greenlighting a third movie. The studio were said to be very happy with the latest version of the script, and production could happen as soon as early 2019.
The plan is apparently to release
Bad Boys 3 before the 2020 Martin Luther King Jr. weekend (that’s in January, for those of you who don’t know your American bank holidays, FYI).
Of course, they will have their work cut out for them.
Bad Boys 2 is the best movie of all time, and there is no way they can improve on it.
No, seriously. Try and name a film better than it. You can’t.
