Good news because Bad Boys 3 has taken a massive step forwards

It's on...again!

Shit just got real on the third instalment of the Bad Boys franchise because Sony has lined up new directors for the long-awaited sequel, Bad Boys for Life. We all know that everybody wants to be like Mike, but sadly, Bad Boys III has been stuck in production hell. Joe Carnahan (Smoking Aces, The A-Team) backed away from the sequel in March 2017, after being attached to the project for nearly two years. Following that news,  Sony announced that the sequel was delayed indefinitely with the studio frequently changing its scheduled release date. Well, we've got some good news for any fans of the franchise because Deadline has reported that Sony wants to get Bad Boys For Life into production this August. Filmmakers Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, who signed on to direct Paramount's Beverly Hills Cop 4 back in 2016, have entered negotiations with the studio to direct the film. The duo previously directed episodes of FX's hit drama series Snowfall, and their new film Gangsta is set to be released later this year. In Bad Boys For Life, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are expected to return as Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett but there isn't any indication if the other cast members from the first two films will be back. A few weeks ago, a Bad Boys TV show was announced. NBC will be filming a pilot for an untitled spinoff series starring Gabrielle Union - you might remember her from Bad Boys II where she played the sister of Detective Lieutenant Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence).
