Fans were not happy

Fans all said the same thing as the animated ogre's face filled the screen.

"What's up with their faces?" One person on X asked.

While a second said: "Y'all gonna have to change this style. ASAP."

A third said: "do not worry if we SHAME them enough, they will change the animation style like Paramount pictures did with sonic. What the heck is this?"

Another said: "WE ARE SO BACK. But why did they change the animation," alongside a broken heart emoji.

In 2020, fan uproar forced the creators of Sonic The Hedgehog to go back to the drawing board to redesign the animation to be more in line with the video games it was based on.

"We changed Sonic, we can do it again," one fan commented.

The original cast members are returning for the film which is set to be released approximately 25 years after the original.

Alongside Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy, Zendaya will star as Shrek and Fiona's daughter.
