Donald Trump once came up with an unbelievably offensive idea for his Apprentice show

This is bad, even by his standards.

You don’t need to look too hard at Donald Trump’s election campaign to see he’s capable of offending a lot of people.

If you need a recap, he has called for Mexico to pay for a border wall, pledged to ban all Muslims from the United States and made countless misogynistic statements. And that’s just the stuff that’s emerged in the last 18 months.

But if you think his capacity to make hugely insensitive statements is a new development, you’d be wrong.

Back before his political career got off the ground, the 70-year-old was best known to a lot of people as the presenter of ‘The Apprentice’ in America.

And, after the first few seasons, he floated the idea of dividing the two teams on the show by race – something which was reported by more than one outlet more than a decade ago.

“It’s just an idea that’s being considered,” a rep for Trump told MSNBC’s The Scoop in 2005, while an article from Entertainment Weekly sheds more light on how the businessman described the proposal at the time.

”[it’s] an idea that is fairly controversial – creating a team of successful African-Americans versus a team of successful whites,” Trump reportedly said on his own syndicated radio show.

“Whether people like that idea or not, it is somewhat reflective of our very vicious world.”
