It involves Rey.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away the Disney shareholders got a sneak peak at some exclusive footage of Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi.
In fact, it wasn't that long ago - it happened this afternoon - and the screening didn't take place in some far, far away location like Tatooine or Hoth. It happened in Los Angeles.
Anyways, details regarding the next installment in the world's biggest saga have been harder to get than the Death Star plans, but with a trailer expected to be shown at the upcoming Star Wars Celebration, the excitement regarding The Last Jedi is getting hotter than a volcano on Mustafar.
Star Wars fans still have so many questions that need to be answered from The Force Awakens, the biggest ones surrounding Rey's background.
Is she a Skywalker? Is she related to Obi-Wan? Is she the spiritual reincarnation of Jar Jar Binks? Well, it appears that we finally have an answer to one of these questions.
Los Angeles Times reporter
Daniel Miller was one of the very few people that were in attendance to see the footage and he revealed the first thing that Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) says to Rey (Daisy Ridley) in Rian Johnson's film.
Luke says: “Who are you?” before his new prospective padawan “deftly” handles a lightsaber.
Granted, Luke has been in exile for quite some time and his ability to use The Force might be a bit rusty, but we're fairly certain that a Jedi Master would be able to remember his own daughter/former student/old buddy etc.
If we take this footage as gospel, it appears that Rey isn't a Skywalker. Bad news then for anyone that loves the galaxy's most dysfunctional family.
Here's everything that he saw.
