Cartoon Network, the cable station that has given us some of the finest animated (and some non-animated) entertainment, first launched on 17 September 1993 – that’s 23 years ago today. The original American version started in October 1992, but we had to wait another year to watch it. https://twitter.com/russty_russ/status/909320540103553024 At first the channel wasn’t 24 hours a day – at night it switched to TCM, showing classic movies throughout the evening – and it wasn’t until December 1996 that it started showing cartoons all through the day and night.
