Carrie Fisher’s mother provides positive update on current situation

"Carrie is in stable condition"

This sounds far more positive.

On Friday, Carrie Fisher’s brother Todd told the Associated Press that “We have to wait and be patient. We have so little information ourselves.” So loved is the hugely talented actress and script editor that a legion of fans have been desperate for news on her health.

Fisher experienced a medical emergency while on a flight from London to Los Angeles on December 23, and reportedly stopped breathing. Many of the subsequent messages on social media were well-intentioned but seemed to expect the worst. Thankfully she is still with us.

It is a difficult time for the Star Wars icon’s family. The situation is ongoing and they are constantly asked for further information. On Sunday the star’s mother, actress Debbie Reynolds, provided the latest update, stating:

“Carrie is in stable condition. If there is a change, we will share it. For all her fans and friends. I thank you for your prayers and good wishes.”

It is certainly a positive development, but also perhaps a polite reaffirmation that they understandably need some space. As long as Fisher is receiving the best medical attention and maintaining her stable condition, it is the least any of us can do to await official word and respect boundaries.
