‘Breaking Bad house’ is up for sale as owners give sad reason for leaving

The iconic property is available to buy at a hefty price.

The property that featured as Walter White’s house in the hugely popular Breaking Bad television series has just appeared on the market.

The four-bedroom, one-bathroom, 1,910 sq. ft. home located in Albuquerque, N.M. was listed by a Christensen Group – a local real estate agency – with a hefty £3.2 million price tag and its own dedicated website.

The Bryan Cranston-fronted series ran between 2008 and 2013 and is widely considered as one of the greatest TV series of all time, winning several Emmy Awards.

The house appeared in the majority of the show’s 62 episodes, with many fans bringing to mind one particular scene in which Cranston’s character threw a large takeaway pizza onto the garage roof.

The home’s current owner, Joanne Quintana, described to New Mexico news outlet KOB 4 how a knock at the door in 2006 changed their lives forever.

“My mother never ever answers the door, and she did, “ Quintana said. “They introduced themselves and handed her a card and said, ‘We would like to use your house for a pilot.'”

After some back and forth with the show’s producers, Joanne’s mother granted permission and filming began at the property two weeks later, with stars Cranston, Anna Gunn and RJ Mitte adopting it as heir on-set home.

Quintana also revealed that the family only got paid an unspecified fee per shoot and does not receive residuals from the show.

“We were, like anybody, it’s a once in a lifetime thing. You got to meet the actors, the actresses, you got to see how they set up the equipment and what it all takes,” said Quintana.

After the show became a worldwide phenomenon, however, things began to change.

“The fans started coming. We would go out there, my mother and I, and we would take pictures with them,” Quintana shared of the early days of the show’s recognition.

Quintana told the outlet that an average of 300 cars would drive by the property per day. Eventually, taking care of her aging parents, who were in hospice in their later days, became too much to juggle.

While she doesn’t share a reason for the sale, the family’s relationship with the show’s enthusiastic fandom has undoubtedly turned into a negative experience.

“This was our family home from 1973, almost 52 years. So we’re going to walk away with just our memories,” Quintana explained. “It’s time to move on. We’re done. There’s no reason to fight anymore.”
