Bad Boys 3 has been given a new release date

Tom Victor

We’ve waited more than a decade for a new Bad Boys film, so we don’t mind waiting a little longer.

The latest instalment in the Will Smith/Martin Lawrence franchise was initially set for February next year, according to reports, but it now looks like Sony will roll out the sequel in June 2017.

Deadline reports that the film, likely to be directed by The A-Team‘s Joe Carnahan, will hit cinemas on June 2 next year, some 14 years after Bad Boys II came out.

Once Bad Boys 3 does become a reality, however, the wait for part four ought not to be nearly as long – 2019 is the reported date for that particular film.

Smith and Lawrence were relative newbies in Hollywood terms when the original Bad Boys film was released in 1995, with the former still starring in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air at the time.

It has already been confirmed that both will return for the third instalment – it’s been a long time coming.
