Arnold Schwarzenegger rips into Donald Trump over Paris climate deal exit

A blunt message for Donald Trump

Rich Cooper

Depending on your political perception, Donald Trump’s decision to pull the US out of the Paris Agreement on climate change has either ruffled a few feathers or set the world back a decade.

The President confirmed his intention to withdraw from the climate change deal, which was met with widespread condemnation from the international community (with the notable absence of one Theresa May).

France’s newly-elected President Emmanuel Macron ended a recent speech in English, co-opting Trump’s famous slogan: “Make our planet great again.”

But he’s not the only one to address Trump on this troubling issue. His old Twitter adversary Arnold Schwarzenegger, former Governor of California and environmental activist, appeared in a video directed at Trump.

“One man cannot destroy our progress. One man can’t stop our clean energy revolution. And one man can’t go back in time. Only I can do that,” Schwarzenegger quips in the video.

Speaking directly to Trump, The Terminator star said: “As a public servant and especially as a president, your first and most important responsibility is to protect the people.

“200,000 people die every year in the U.S. from air pollution, and half of our rivers and streams are too polluted for our health.”

Since it was uploaded, the video has had over 30,000 retweets, and knowing how much time The Donald spends on Twitter, we’re betting he’s seen it by now.

Get ready, folks. He’s had a big cup of covfefe and he’ll be ready with a comeback shortly.
