Alan Partridge will be the ‘voice of Brexit’ in his new BBC show

Paul Moore

Ah-ha!

Dan! Dan! Dan! Dan! DAN!

With news that Steve Coogan is bringing back his most beloved character, plenty of us were wondering about what adventures Alan Partridge would get up to in the modern world.

Truth be told, we would be happy to see our favourite DJ feeding beefburgers to swans or engaging in a nice round of monkey tennis, but the star of  Knowing Me, Knowing You,  Mid Morning Matters and I’m Alan Partridge will be embracing his Little Englander ideology in the upcoming season.

Speaking with The New European about the series,  Coogan gave a few details about what to expect and the issue of Brexit will be mentioned.

“It’s conceivable, because in this age of Brexit, they [the BBC] might think they need to get in touch with the ‘Little Englanders’ they ignore. Alan would have voted Brexit for sure. Hard Brexit, given the choice. He’s a Brexiteer because the Daily Mail told him to be,” he said.

Given the seismic changes that have occurred in British politics and society since we last saw Partridge on screen, this series could be very special.

To anyone who thinks the opposite, we have only one thing to say, “SMELL MY CHEESE!”

Any man that’s comfortable enough to say: “I try to maintain a healthy anus, and largely successfully. Of course there’s always the odd mishap, by the law of averages. You can’t get it right every time,” is worthy of discussing Brexit.
