Video captures mum accidentally shooting own son as she fired at neighbour’s dog

A video has emerged of a mother from Texas shooting her own son in the stomach by mistake. The mother was reportedly attempting to shoot the neighbour's dog, a boxer puppy, who escaped from his owner's yard in Houston. In the video, the owner can be seen chasing and calling the dog as it runs across the road toward the woman's home. Shortly after, a series of gunshots can be heard before a child lets out a loud scream. According to a statement from Houston police department, the child screaming was the son of Angelia Mia Vargas, aged 24. Vargas was arrested and charged with a count of  a deadly conduct-discharge of a firearm after the incident. The dog's owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, spoke to ABC News about the incident. He said:

I came out of my house because Bruno was barking and barking. I thought my brother was coming. So I open the door just a little bit and he comes running out... She could have handled it differently. You know, she was there, her husband was there, I was there, nothing would have happened. Nothing bad like that.

The owner says the incident has left him traumatised, and little Bruno has suffered a small injury on his paws from the gunshots.
