Definitely wasn’t feeling sheepish

A Bolivian convict attempted to escape a maximum security prison by disguising himself as a sheep.

José Luis Callisaya Diaz, who is serving 15 years in prison for homicide in Chonchocoro prison in La Paz, Bolivia, wrapped himself in sheepskin so that he could roam free.

Diaz reportedly snuck past security by crawling through the grass in the middle of the night and attempted to break through one of the walls in his bid to escape.

He tried to escape earlier this month however recent images have now resurfaced after he was recaptured by prison guards.

Guards soon noticed that the criminal wasn’t in his cell and found him as he crawled along the grassy field on his hands and knees before being returned to the prison.

In the released photos, Diaz can be spotted wearing the sheep wool jacket and dark trousers while trailing through the grass, impersonating the farmyard animal.

Juan Carlos Limpias, the director of prisons across Bolivia reassured the people of the country that the criminal had been found and won’t be escaping again, citing the cold weather was Diaz’s reason to try and attempt an escape.

Limpias said: “We inform the Bolivian population that prison security police officers from the San Pedro de Chonchocoro Penitentiary Center prevented the escape of prisoner José Luis Callisaya Diaz (alias El Araña), who took advantage of the inclement weather to try to flee through one of the walls of the external perimeter of the prison

Since Diaz’s failed prison break, authorities have ordered for legal and disciplinary actions against the prisoner.
