Bishop Lamor Whitehead was robbed of his gold chain and rings

A bishop in America was robbed of jewellery totalling $400,000 (£332K) while he was delivering his sermon to churchgoers on a live stream.

Bishop Lamor Whitehead was speaking at the Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries in Canarsie, Brooklyn, just before noon on Sunday when three masked men burst in.

The church leader could be heard saying, “all right, all right”, before getting onto the floor on his hands and knees. The robbers stole jewellery from Whitehead, who was wearing a lavish gold chain at the time, his wife, and presumable churchgoers. They also stole two of the Bishop’s large rings, reports The Daily Beast.

After fleeing the church, the criminals are said to have fled East on Avenue D in a white Mercedes.

“I didn’t know if they wanted to shoot the church up or if they were just coming for a robbery,” Whitehead said following the attack while also saying he’s “good.”

Whitehead is known for his lavish lifestyle.

TwoTwo months ago, while trying to negotiate the surrender of Andrew Abdullah, 25, in the fatal shooting of Goldman Sachs employee Daniel Enriquez, the bishop turned up in a Rolls Royce.

People often question why the Whitehead is so attached to material things, which he cleared up later in the live stream.

“A lot of people are going to say, ‘Why are you so flashy?’ It’s my prerogative to purchase what I want to purchase if I work hard for it,” he explained.
