Why Brits shouldn’t have been trusted to use common sense

This is what our prime minister Boris Johnson urged Britons to use when dealing with coronavirus. The same Boris Johnson who applied his common sense while London mayor to support and put money behind the London Garden Bridge. Labelled a vanity project by many, it cost £53 million despite never getting close to construction. But Britain is a country that inherently has common sense, or so Boris would have us believe, and as such our population should be trusted to go about their lives in a sensible manner during a deadly pandemic. Unfortunately for him, and for all of us, that trust in common sense has seen thousands of Brits flock to a number of illegal raves and parties, hit the beach (resulting in a major incident) and take to the streets to celebrate major events.
