X sign removed at Twitter HQ after neighbours complain

X is having a nightmare.

It’s been just one week since Twitter announced its rather unexpected rebrand to X – but things aren’t running smoothly yet.

Following numerous complaints from neighbours, the flashing dystopian X sign on top of the headquarters at Twitter has been removed.

Over 24 complaints were logged after the humungous logo was installed on Friday on the roof of the San Fran headquarters.

While it certainly makes for an impressive sight, neighbours weren’t best pleased and claimed the lights were intrusive, and filed numerous complaints.

A spokesperson from the city department of building inspection, said: “This morning, building inspectors observed the structure being dismantled. The property owner will be assessed fees for the unpermitted installation of the illuminated structure.”

X said that the removal was voluntary.

Honestly I don’t get the big deal. It’s only a light. But neighbours were absolutely furious, with Patricia Wallinga, one woman who lives across the road, telling CBS: “I thought it was lightning, and I was very confused. I went to my window, I looked around, I didn’t see anything. I thought it was maybe a police siren. It’s a danger. A clown show.”

Attorney George Wolf also explained that residents were entitled to a chance to approve or reject the light, saying: “it’s very, very reckless [for Musk] to do things this way … It just sounds like it’s just his normal means of doing business. Break things and try and fix them later.”

Well it’s gone now so I hope you’re happy.
