Xavi growing tired of Ousmane Dembélé’s ‘lack of professionalism’ at Barcelona

Xavi has had enough of Dembélé

Barcelona boss Xavi is rapidly losing patience with Ousmane Dembélé’s “lack of professionalism” at the club, with the Frenchman looking more and more likely to leave.

Reports in Spain have suggested that legendary midfielder has described the behaviour of the winger as “indefensible” whilst also accusing Dembélé of lying about his contract situation, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.

Barcelona have offered Dembélé several contact offers, with the Barça winger demanding an astonishing £67m million across the length of the contract to stay. However, given the ongoing financial turmoil at the Camp Nou, that is highly unlikely.

The Frenchman has rebuffed offers on numerous occasions and with six months left on his contract, is now free to negotiate with clubs outside of Spain, with the likes of Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain being linked with moves for the 24-year-old.

It represents the latest tale in a sorry state of affairs at Barcelona, with the Catalan giants now looking reluctant to open talks with him again and risk losing a player they signed for £96 million back in 2017, for nothing.

Dembélé has struggled for any real signs of consistency in Spain, continuously hampered by both hamstring and knee injuries – this season included.

Whilst injuries haven’t helped, Dembélé has already shown a lack of trust to his new manager once and was fined shortly after Xavi’s arrival for turning up to training late.

The 24-year-old has made 126 appearances in his time at the Catalan side, scoring 30 goals and assisting 23 times.
