Zlatan Ibrahimović to make sensational return to Sweden squad aged 39

Good to see him sticking to what he's good at

The striker has not played for his country since Euro 2016, when they exited at the group stage. In his absence, Sweden reached the quarter-finals of the 2018 World Cup, only to be knocked out by England.

But with Zlatan in a rich vein of form having returned to AC Milan, the 39-year-old will return to the squad, according to Swedish news outlet FotbollDirekt.

Ibrahimović has 116 caps to his name already and will hope to add more to his tally this spring, and possibly even in the winter of 2022 at the Qatar World Cup. Given how he has played this season at the age of 39, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that he will appear in the tournament.

Commenting on the situation with Ibrahimovic in November, manager Janne Andersson said: "When Zlatan opened up for games in the national team, it felt natural and important to meet and discuss this as soon as possible. I am glad that we managed to get a meeting so quickly."

The striker is currently injured and seemingly more interested in telling LeBron James, who took his throne as the King of Los Angeles, to stop getting involved in politics. He will therefore miss AC Milan's Europa League tie against Manchester United on Thursday 11th March, but is expected to be fit enough to represent his country as they face up against Georgia, Kosovo and Estonia in the spring internationals.
