Zlatan Ibrahimovic move to LA Galaxy ‘confirmed’

Is someone getting ahead of themselves?

It’s looking increasingly unlikely that Manchester United will qualify for next season’s Champions League via a top four finish.

Saturday’s draw at home with West Brom saw them miss yet another opportunity to make up ground on the teams above them. With difficult fixtures away at Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City and Southampton as well as a visit from Chelsea all remaining, winning the Europa League appears to be a more likely route to the Champions League for Jose Mourinho’s men.

Despite dominating many of their eight drawn games at Old Trafford this season, United have been wasteful in front of goal. Deploying a system that sees Zlatan Ibrahimovic spearhead their attack, Mourinho has seen his side struggle for goals from elsewhere when the Swede’s scoring touch has deserted him (and during his recent suspension).

Although it’s likely Mourinho will look to spend money to address his side’s lack of goals in the summer, reports from across the pond appear to suggest that United’s boss will be looking to replace Ibrahimovic instead of bringing someone in to share the scoring burden.

Not for the first time, rumours that Zlatan will leave United in a couple of months for LA Galaxy have surfaced, this time coming courtesy of Spanish-speaking broadcaster Fox Deportes.  They’re so convinced that Ibrahimovic is California-bound, they’ve gone to the trouble of mocking up this doctored image of him in a Galaxy kit. They’ve even gone with the caption: ‘CONFIRMED from Europe. #ZlatanIbrahimovic will play in #Galaxy. #MLS Soccer

CONFIRMADO desde Europa. #ZlatanIbrahimovic jugará en el #Galaxy. #Futbol #MLS

Of course, there’s every chance someone in America could be getting a little ahead of themselves with this. If not, Bastian Schweinsteiger and his Chicago Fire teammates had better be prepared for a Galaxy challenge to their World Cup dream.
