After taking a first half lead through Bernardo Silva, Pep Guardiola's (much changed) side were pegged back in stoppage time as Jamie Vardy tucked away a penalty that had been controversially won by Demarai Gray.
Chances were limited in extra time, meaning the game had to be settled on spot kicks.
With the first seven penalties of the shootout scored, Vardy failed with his second penalty of the night, clipping the outside of Claudio Bravo's post. With Riyad Mahrez then needing to convert his to keep Leicester hopes of progression alive, Bravo made the save to send the visitors through to the last four.
Predictably, with the ABBA penalty shootout format being used to determine the result, Twitter was flooded with lots of football fans making the exact same joke...
