Football Twitter can be a weird place.

Sometimes you simply can’t be sure if something is a wind-up or is actually serious.

While we’re more than aware that the tweet below is almost certainly the former, many of those that have seen it pop up on their feeds in the last couple of hours believe that it was very much genuine.

After a victory against Sunderland on Sunday afternoon, Manchester City closed the gap on table-topping Chelsea to just eight points.

With Chelsea facing West Ham at the London Stadium on Monday evening, the tweet below called for City fans to unite with their West Ham counterparts in willing Slaven Bilic’s men to a win, in the faint hope that a Chelsea defeat might open the door for a City title charge.

As if the embarrassing badge didn’t already make it clear enough that this wasn’t genuine, just take a look at the actual words of the tweet…

‘West Hamchester City’. Wow.

As you might have guessed, people fell for it. Hook, line and sinker.

There were ‘delete’ tweets a plenty…
