Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has hinted at potentially playing in the XFL, an American football league he recently purchased. The Rock has recently recovered from coronavirus, and has been getting back to work in the gym. As a former professional wrestler and action movie star, physical training has been part and parcel of putting on a show for the fans. But it now appears that the 48-year-old's brutal training regime could be geared towards a different end goal: the sporting field. "I was a good football player with great 'upper body violence' as my coach, Ed Orgeron loved to call it, so maybe I'll be the first owner in pro football history to actually suit up and play in the game. "No doubt, I'll get my ass whupped but at least I'm goin' out on my shield - XFL style. "What a wild, unpredictable journey life can be and I got nothing but excitement and gratitude to create these opportunities for other players and people." He excelled in the college game and signed for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. He suffered an injury setback early in his career, however, and was cut from the squad. A year later he began wrestling and - well, the rest is history. The Rock recently became a co-owner of the XFL with his ex-wife Dany Garcia. The pair led a consortium that purchased the XFL out of bankruptcy. It was originally set up by The Rock's former employer, WWE owner Vince McMahon, as a rival to the NFL, but struggled to attract viewers.
