Wojciech Szczęsny mocks Tottenham’s last day hammering from the other side of Europe

Wojciech Szczęsny is still Arsenal through and through, despite being farmed out on loan to AS Roma last year.

Having ended the Italian season with a 3-1 win against AC Milan on Saturday, the Polish goalkeeper had his feet up watching the last day of the Premier League season unfold on Sunday afternoon. His parent club breezed to a 4-0 win over already-relegated Aston Villa meaning that they'd somehow leapfrog North London rivals Tottenham in the league table if Mauricio Pochettino's side lost their final game at Newcastle. But of course, that was *never* going to happen, was it? Like Aston Villa, Newcastle will also be playing Championship football next season following their relegation in midweek and the idea of them stopping a side that had only recently been embroiled in a title race seemed highly unlikely. But Spurs *did* lose. And not only did they leave Tyneside empty-handed, they received an absolute pasting by Rafa Benitez's men, ending the day on the wrong end of a 5-1 scoreline.

Szczęsny took great delight in a miserable end to the season for Spurs, sharing the following tweet after the game...

  Of course, it wasn't just that Spurs had shipped five goals to Newcastle that was a cause for disappointment for their supporters - it was also the fact that the result, coupled with the score at The Emirates, meant that they had failed to finish above Arsenal in the table for what would have been the first time in 21 years. The wait goes on.
