Will Jose Aldo pull out of UFC 194 at the last minute? Frankie Edgar doesn’t think so

Preparing for Mendes

The UFC took every precaution possible to make sure that Conor McGregor would have an opponent on December 12.

After Chad Mendes was forced to step in on late notice to replace an injured Jose Aldo ahead of UFC 189, Dana White and Co. went all out this time to make sure that the main event of UFC 194 wouldn’t be compromised.

Urijah Faber fights on the undercard of UFC 194 so he’d be able to step up and face his TUF 22 rival coach if Aldo was to pull out again but, more realistically, Frankie Edgar could have answered the call.

Edgar is preparing for a fight against Chad Mendes at the TUF 22 finale, which takes place the night before UFC 194, and he would be the number one candidate should the Brazilian withdraw from the December 12 event.

But Edgar has revealed that he’s not preparing for McGregor in the slightest as he doesn’t foresee Aldo pulling out with just a week to go.

“I wasn’t banking on anybody pulling out,” Edgar told MMAJunkie.

“With Jose doing it once already, I thought he was going to prepare the right way and make it to the date,” Edgar added.

“We’re still a week away, but I’m pretty sure he’s going to make it.”
