At what point did the chant become bigger than the man?

Wigan and Northern Ireland striker Will Grigg has been in fine goalscoring form this season, helping fire the Latics back to the Championship.

But many new-found fans might have remained blissfully unaware of the 24-year-old were it not for a certain chant.

Grigg found the net 28 times in his first Wigan season, but was yet to score for his country…until tonight.

The former Walsall frontman scored Northern Ireland’s third goal in their 3-0 victory over Belarus, adding to strikes from Kyle Lafferty and Conor Washington.

That will improve his claim for a place in Michael O’Neill’s final 23-man Euro 2016 squad, where they will face Germany, Ukraine and Poland.
