Why Gary Lineker’s Match of the Day pants appearance cost his son money

The return of the new Premier League season was all well and good.

But the real anticipation of fans up and down the country was not to see what formation the new manager would pick, whether the new star signing would score on his debut, or how the team would fare in a new division. No, the big question on everybody's lips was whether Gary Lineker would follow through on his promise to present Match of the Day in his undies - which he said he would if his beloved Leicester City won the title. They delivered... and so did Gary. Sort of. Meanwhile Lineker Snr responded to claims that he was wearing shorts, rather than pants. He wrote on Twitter:

"Had a few complaints saying I should've worn pants not boxers. My tweet said undies. Boxers are undies. That was embarrassing enough thanks."
