Why Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was disappointed with himself after 5-0 win

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was a tad hard on himself on Boxing Day.

The Liverpool midfielder was largely praised for his performance against Swansea, which saw him score his third goal in all competitions for the Reds since his £35 million move from Arsenal in the summer. Oxlade-Chamberlain found the net to close out the hosts' 5-0 drubbing of the bottom-of-the-table Swans but, in spite of his accomplished showing at Anfield, the 24-year-old was not happy with how he played. "We got the three points but personally I was quite disappointed with myself today," he told Sky Sports. "I'm happy I managed to get the goal in the end but I just tried to work hard through the 90 minutes and when the chance came at the end I was happy to put that away. It made it a bit better. "I just want more from myself and there were a few moments where I could have done better with my end product. "We train every day and when you get into certain situations you work hard to get into those positions and in this league they don't come too often. "There are a few times today when I could have done better. "But 5-0 for the boys, I’m really happy with that. I just want to keep pushing myself." Oxlade-Chamberlain has already scored as many goals in the Premier League this season as he managed in any of his seven campaigns with the Gunners and he looks to have finally found his feet under Jurgen Klopp, after initially struggling to settle. And Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher was delighted to see the England international score at the Kop end of Anfield, a feat which tends to be a career highlight of Reds players. "I am really pleased for this lad. The question is does he score enough goals," Carragher told Sky Sports. "Klopp wants that more from him. He has got his goal at the Kop end. The ball bounced around a little bit. It is a great finish. He lobs it over the goalkeeper into the far corner. He showed his strength and persistence. "It’s a great feeling for any Liverpool player to score at the end."
