"It's not 100% yet, but it's going to be fucking good," Cerrone told the UFC commentator. "Hopefully, today we get the double thumbs up."That thumbs up has not arrived yet but, according to reports, Cerrone's promise about his announcement's magnitude is not an exaggeration. ESPN reporter Brett Okamoto claims that another welterweight tilt is in the works for Cerrone at UFC 205 in Madison Square Garden and it will come against none other than the former champion, Robbie Lawler. https://twitter.com/bokamotoESPN/status/771390842997121024 Cerrone maintained his perfect record at 170lbs, since moving up after he came unstuck in his shot at the lightweight title, when he stopped welterweight stalwart Rick Story at UFC 202 a fortnight ago. It was his third finish in as many fights and earned him number seven slot in the most recent welterweight rankings. Lawler, meanwhile, is looking to rebound after losing the title when he was brutally knocked out by reigning champ Tyron Woodley in July.
If true, the bout will make a monster first addition to one of the most eagerly anticipated fight cards of the year.
We can but pray.
