Fans had hoped the mystery box would include an early copy of the game, with Rockstar now confirming it does not.

The "Grand Theft Auto 6: The Goodtime State - Vice City Collection" was officially announced by the American video game company.

It is built around Macca the Gator, an in-universe TV show from Leonida, GTA 6's fictional state based on Florida, with preorders now opened and priced at £349.99.

Rockstar's own product page cautions that the collection is only available "while stocks last."

That reads like genuine scarcity, given how anticipated the game is, as shipping starts on 19 November, the exact date GTA 6 is released worldwide.

Collector's editions have grown pricier across gaming in recent years.
