His ire is directed towards Norwich defender Ryan Bennett, who he feels could well have contributed to the Chilean's premature demise - with a cameraman for an accomplice. That's after Bennett and Sanchez went careering off the pitch during the game.
It caused the Arsenal forward to stumble into a camera pit, and then miraculously get up and carry on playing. It was an innocuous, almost comical incident. But Wenger saw things very differently.
"First of all it is dangerous to have a camera there. He could have killed him." exclaimed the veteran coach, rather dramatically. "Secondly, he didn’t need to push him like he did. I think the camera position was absolutely dangerous."
Although Sanchez walked away from the collision, Wenger wonders whether it was to blame for his later damage: "I don’t know. There are so many specialists to predict absolutely everything. A hamstring injury. He had hamstring injuries in Barcelona as well."
So just to be clear, Wenger is not to blame for the Chilean's layoff. It was a delayed reaction from attempted murder.Explore more on these topics:
