Arsenal's signing of Martin Ødegaard on a short term loan from Real Madrid received a mixed reaction. For many, it was a coup to acquire one of the brightest young playmakers in world football - even if it's only for a few months.
For others, it was a reminder of Arsenal's weakened stature in the transfer market. A short term loan from an actual super club is not exactly a long term strategy, but neither is rummaging through Chelsea's bins.
Ødegaard spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad in La Liga, where he performed so well, Madrid cut the loan short with the intention of phasing him into their side this season. But with Toni Kroos and Luka Modrić still performing at a high level, game time has proved difficult to come by for the Norwegian.
But watching his highlights for La Real should be hugely encouraging for Arsenal fans.
