Manchester City’s invincible hopes died at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

After Leroy Sané’s equaliser had cancelled out Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s opener against Liverpool before the break, the home side roared into a 4-1 lead in the second half, with Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mo Salah. Late goals from Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan set up a tense finish, but Jürgen Klopp’s men did enough to get over the line with all three points.

It was arguably the best Premier League game of the season, although it proved to be an exhausting watch for many of those in the Anfield stands and tuning in on the tv.

Speaking to NBC after the full-time whistle, Klopp admitted that, from a manager’s perspective, the performance wasn’t exactly perfect from his team. From a fan’s point of view, however, the Liverpool boss admitted it was a little different…

“You can have a look at this game in different ways,” he said. “You can look at it as a manager and say “okay, we could have done this and that better,” or you can look at it as a football fan and say “what the f**k was that?””

An apology swiftly followed, with Klopp explaining he wasn’t aware the word was offensive to an American audience.
