But the disappointment of missing out on the national job still irks big Sam and no dossier is going to make him feel any better. The West Ham boss appeared on The Clare Balding Show to discuss all-things-football - well, about as much football as you could discuss with Allardyce - and he revealed how it was "touch and go" between him and McClaren for the England position back in 2006.
