Well this certainly makes a refreshing change.

On Monday, Kasımpaşa and Rizespor played out a 1-1 draw in Turkey’s Süper Lig. Kasımpaşa took the lead, with Rizespor equalising via a contentious penalty.

But rather than taking a vow of silence following the game, Çoban interrupted Kasımpaşa manager Rıza Çalımbay’s post-match interview to apologise for his decision live on air…

According to Turkish Football, a rough translation of the exchange is as follows:

Çoban: “I apologise to you [Çalımbay], to the Kasımpaşa team to the Rizespor team and to the Turkish Football Federation as well as the refereeing committee and have to consider my future after this.” 

Çalımbay: “We all make mistakes but the fact that you had the courage to come here and admit this deserves a lot of respect. Do not talk about leaving the profession the game needs more people like you.”

Can you imagine a similar chat between Mike Dean and Arsene Wenger? No, us neither.
