Transfer gossip: Real Madrid to wait for De Gea

Tom Victor

The tortoise and De Gea

This summer’s longest-running transfer saga may not come to an end until 2016, with Real Madrid seemingly prepared to stay slow and steady in the race for David De Gea.

The Manchester United goalkeeper has a year left on his contract, and the Times report that he will see it out before moving to Spain on a free transfer next summer.

With Victor Valdes on his way out, De Gea staying would solve United’s goalkeeper conundrum in the short-term.

Chelsea’s Salah days are ending

Mohamed Salah seems to have no future at Chelsea after being left out of the club’s US tour.

According to the London Evening Standard, Jose Mourinho took the measure after the winger refused a loan move to Fiorentina.

The Egyptian, who spent the second half of last season in Florence, has played just 19 games for Chelsea since joining in January 2014.

Everton look to Evans above

After bringing in Tom Cleverley earlier in the summer, Everton manager Roberto Martinez has his sights set on another Manchester United player in Jonny Evans.

Northern Ireland international Evans could arrive on the cheap, as his contract expires a year from now, but the Manchester Evening News report that United want £8m for the 27-year-old.

The centre-back has played almost 200 times for United since making his debut in 2007, and has been part of three title-winning squads for the North West club.
