Transfer Gossip: Can Christian resist Red Devils’ temptation?

Red Devils look to tempt Christian

Liverpool could be set to miss out on long-term target Christian Benteke as Manchester United plot a bid which would activate the Belgian striker’s release clause of £32.5m, according to The Sun.

Benteke fueled speculation he was set for a move to Old Trafford last night after favouriting a tweet which said he would be a perfect backup to Wayne Rooney.

If he does sign for the Red Devils, it will be a real blow to Brendan Rodgers’ side as they still have not adequately replaced Luis Suarez following his move to Barcelona last summer.

Spurs to unload £26m flop

The writing has been on the wall for a long time for Tottenham striker Roberto Soldado, and it seems that Daniel Levy has finally found a way to offload the Spaniard

The Daily Mirror report that Europa League champions Sevilla are willing to pay £11m for the 30-year-old as they look to strengthen ahead of their impending Champions League campaign.

The figure would be £15m less than Spurs spent on Soldado when they signed him from Valencia two years ago, in which time he has only managed seven league goals — three of which were penalties.

Newcastle target star Serbian striker

Newcastle hope to fight off interest from Porto in order to sign Anderlecht’s Aleksandar Mitrovic, according to The Northern Echo.

The 20-year-old striker is best-known to English fans for scoring the equalising goal in his side’s 3-3 draw with Arsenal in the group stages of last season’s Champions League.

The Serb has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs — including the Gunners themselves — and would likely command a fee in the region of £15m.
