Tony Bellew had a brilliant response to Jamie Carragher’s FA Cup tweet

Red vs. Blue

Two Merseyside derbies in a month, we’re not complaining.

Sam Allardyce now has a pair of incredible opportunities in front of him to immediately win over Everton supporters as nothing is treasured more than a derby day victory.

Having taken over at Goodison Park last week, Allardyce guided his new side to a 2-0 victory over Huddersfield on Saturday and it’s now two wins and six goals since the veteran manager was officially announced as the man tasked with stopping the rot with the Merseyside club.

Everton travel to Anfield on Sunday for their first derby of the season and they’d best get used to the stadium as they’ll be back there again in just over a month as they’ve been drawn against their arch-rivals in the FA Cup third round.

The ties will take place on the weekend of 6-7 January 2018 and it’s safe to say that Reds legend Jamie Carragher is salivating at the prospect of beating their neighbours twice in the space of four weeks.

Tony Bellew, the heavyweight boxer and Everton supporter, has provided a brilliant response to the former Liverpool defender, though, as he has joked that Carragher would not actually enjoy the matches.

Bellew actually won the WBC cruiserweight title at his beloved Goodison and he’s suggested that Carragher’s heart remains with Everton.

Carragher was famously a die-hard Everton fan as a young lad and he’s spoken before about his obsession with the Toffees before he switched allegiances.

“I was a total Everton fanatic right through my childhood and teens,” Carragher admitted in 2008.

“Everton controlled my life and dominated my thoughts 24/7. I went to the away games, followed them across Europe and in the mid-80s went to Wembley so often it began to feel like Alton Towers.

“When I talk about that Everton team I still say ‘we’. Even when I was playing for Liverpool reserves I’d want Everton’s first team to win the derby every time.”
