Timothy Weah is expected to complete a loan move to Celtic

Paris Saint-Germain’s Timothy Weah has dropped another social media hint that his loan move to Celtic is imminent.

Having followed several Celtic players on Instagram – including recent loan arrival Oliver Burke – the USA international shared a post of him appearing to say goodbye to his PSG locker on the social media platform on Saturday.

The 18-year-old – son of former AC Milan and Liberia striker, George – posted a picture of his closed locker to Instagram Stories, accompanied by a series of waving hand emojis.

Weah played in three of PSG’s games early in the season, but has not featured since being substituted at half-time in their win against Guingamp in August. He has, however, featured in five games for his national side – including the 3-0 defeat by England at Wembley in November.

He has been rumoured to be leaving PSG on loan in January for months, with clubs from England, France and Germany also thought to be keen to take him. Celtic emerged as favourites to sign him at the end of December, adding some much needed support up front to Odsonne Edouard.

Celtic are currently top of the Scottish Premiership, a better goal difference keeping them ahead of Old Firm rivals Rangers, who have also played an extra game.

Rangers are also expected to strengthen their squad in January window, with reports claiming Jermain Defoe has agreed to join Steven Gerrard’s squad on an 18-month loan deal from Bournemouth.
