This video of all nine German penalties being taken at once is a thing of beauty

Nine penalties, 12 seconds

Simon Lloyd

All nine of Germany’s penalties in 12 seconds. Now *that’s* efficiency.

Joachim Low’s men sealed their spot in Euro 2016’s last four on Saturday night, seeing off Italy by way of a penalty shoot-out.

But this wasn’t your typical, run-of-the-mill German shoot-out victory. Having scored 21 shoot-out penalties on the trot, the well-oiled Deutsch spot-kick machine wasn’t running quite as smoothly as it’s done in years gone by.

Thomas Muller’s penalty was saved by Gianluigi Buffon; Mesut Ozil struck a post; Bastian Schweinsteiger blazed over. If it weren’t for some equally comical penalties such as the one we saw from Simone Zaza, Germany might have been on a plane bound for Berlin by Sunday lunch time.

In the end, Germany got their shit together and saw off the Italians after penalty number nine.

And in the hours that followed, a video which shows all nine of Germany’s spot kicks superimposed over one another made its way on to the internet.

Posted (and presumably made) by Twitter user Kurt Prödel, the video soon racked up the retweets. And having watched it numerous times already, we can see why.

Who would’ve thought the sight of Germany winning a penalty shoot out could be so beautiful?
