Kagawa, currently back at Dortmund after an unhappy spell at Old Trafford, enjoyed a close relationship with Klopp during their time together at the Bundesliga club.
Klopp signed the 26 year old in 2010 for €350,000 from Cerezo, a team in Japan's second division, before the player moved to England in 2012. Liverpool's incoming manager claimed he felt despair to see the player being played out of position at United.
