This Liverpool fan’s undeniably catchy Coutinho song has gone viral

Who knew that Liverpool fans would sound so upbeat about losing their star man?

Simon Lloyd

Naturally, Liverpool fans will be a little disappointed by the Philippe Coutinho news.

Their club knocked back a series of bids for the Brazilian from Barcelona in the summer, but reluctantly agreed to let him make the move to the Camp Nou last week in exchange for £142m.

Still, you won’t catch ‘Kevin Murphy’ – Richy Sheehy on Facebook – feeling too down about things. Instead, “Cork’s biggest Liverpool fan” spent his time thinking up a new post-Coutinho chant he hopes will be belted out from The Kop this weekend.

To the tune of The Archies’ Sugar, Sugar, Kev reminds his fellow Reds that – despite Coutinho’s departure – their club still has plenty of attacking talent on their books, namely Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Posted on YouTube originally, the footage has made its way on to Twitter where it has been widely shared. It is undeniably very, very catchy. Have a listen:

“If we were to sing it on The Kop, I’d love it,” Kev says as he signs off.

Liverpool return to action on Sunday when they host runaway Premier League leaders, Manchester City. It remains to be seen whether the quote catches on with the Anfield crowd.
