This image of Harry Kane’s horribly twisted ankle will have Spurs fans concerned

Spurs fans fear the worst

JOE

After bagging so many goals for himself in the last few weeks, losing Harry Kane is undoubtedly a blow for Tottenham Hotspur.

Kane started Sunday’s FA Cup quarter final with Millwall but stayed down after an early challenge. It swiftly became clear that the 23-year-old’s game was over and, as he hobbled towards the tunnel, he was replaced by Christian Eriksen.

Given that he was able to limp to the changing rooms, it’s reasonable to assume that Kane has escaped a serious injury following the incident. This said, having missed seven weeks at the start of the season with ankle ligament damage, the images below will be of concern to Spurs fans.

Although initial footage of the incident didn’t appear to show it, the image above, shown during the BBC’s half time coverage, demonstrates how horribly twisted the England international’s ankle joint was.

If, as many fear, Kane has sustained more damage to his ankle ligaments, he can expect to miss a good chunk (if not all) of Spurs’ remaining fixtures this season.

Thankfully from a Spurs perspective, Kane’s early withdrawal didn’t have too much of an impact on the home side’s ability to find the back of the net. Eriksen opened the scoring after half an hour, with Son Heung-min doubling the score before the end of the first 45 minutes.
