This Cristiano Ronaldo stat has broken football

Mind blowing...

Kevin Beirne

Since signing from Manchester United for £80m in 2009, Cristiano Ronaldo has written himself into the Real Madrid history books in record time.

If not for Lionel Messi, we’d be hailing Ronaldo as the greatest player of this generation.

In fact, you might argue that Messi’s brilliance means we actually aren’t properly appreciating Ronaldo, as this ridiculous stat shows.

The Portuguese captain is closing in on Raul’s record as Real Madrid’s all-time leading goalscorer. But while it took Raul 741 games to score his 323 goals, Ronaldo has found the net 321 times in just 305 appearances.

According to Redditor iah725, ‘Ronaldo could play in every Real Madrid league game until November 2024 without scoring and still have more goals in fewer games than Raul.’

That means he could simply sit in the centre circle and contribute nothing in every league game for the next nine years and still have a better goalscoring ratio.
