This camera angle reveals linesman was wrong to rule out Sergio Aguero’s first half goal

Fine, fine margins

Talk about fine margins…

Manchester City were unfortunate not to go in a goal ahead against Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.

With five minutes to play of their FA Cup semi-final at Wembley, it seemed that Sergio Aguero gad given them the lead. Meeting a cross from Leroy Sane at the back post, the ball crossed the line before Petr Cech could get to it.

Despite this, the goal was ruled out. The linesman deemed that Sane’s cross had curled out of play before Aguero was able to turn it home. With City players protesting, BT Sport showed footage of the incident from on the goal line.

As you’ll see below, while the majority of the ball does appear to have crossed the line, it’s clear enough that not all of it is out – meaning the goal should’ve stood.

Clearly, with his linesman in a much better place than him to make such a call, referee Craig Pawson had no choice but to award a goal kick.

Although some will rightly point out that the linesman only gets one chance to make a decision over such an incident, surely he couldn’t have been 100% certain that the ball had entirely crossed the line here?
